Occupy Boston is the latest expression of disenchantment with the critical vacuum in US leadership during the recession. A groundswell is coming from the left, the "Occupation Forces": OCCUPY WALL STREET, DC, and now OCCUPY BOSTON, which seem to be taking their cues from the Jasmine Revolution that's been turning the North African and Arab Penninsula establishments on their heads. Uh, throw in a little Woodstock flavor, after all, this is the US!

Early Tuesday morning over 100 people were arrested when they decided to occupy an area beyond the space alloted to them by the city, Dewey Square, to Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Green. The reason for denial of that space to protestors was the $150,000 of new improvments. When the demonstrators marched into the street, the mayor said he would not allow them to "tie up the city". At this time of day many demonstrators were not at "home";'here you'll see the tents set up at Dewey Square on October 9, before the protestors expanded the occupation to the Green.

OCCUPY BOSTON'S TENT CITY

TENTS ON DEWEY SQUARE AND THE SURROUNDING DOWNTOWN AREA.

The number of demonstrators grew from a few hundred to thousands marching in one day, which led to the occupation of Rose F. Kennedy Green.
CHANTING DEMONSTRATORS

The demonstrators were joined by college students and community groups from the area; the police also "joined".

THE NUMBER OF TENTS AND PLACARDS INCREASED SIGNIFICANTLY

Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino has stated that while he sympathizes with the demonstrators' aims for the improvement of middle class families' situation, he will allow them to remain in Dewey Square, but not on the Green.
Below, police officers, one with cable tie handcuffs, are shown prior to the arrests made later that night. Demonstrators have voiced support of President Obama's Jobs Bill.
