PORTRAIT DE FAMILLE MICHELE MARCELIN
MICHELE VOLTAIRE MARCELIN, an artist of diverse means of expression of Haitian descent now living in New York City, her work is typified by her breadth of vision and the generosity of her horizons. She has written a book, LA DESENCHANTEE, which received very postive reviews; in Le Coin Du LIvre the critic Carl Fombrum said: "What a delight this novel which takes place in Haiti is. A little masterpiece. What talent! What clever pen! One could be reading a tale written by any of the great 17th or 18th century French novelists. Whether from Haiti or not, male or female, one recognizes oneself on several occasions. And what style! What transparence in the simplicity of the words! So well written, so well told. Thank you, Michele!"

One can sample Marcelin's acting in her emotive conjuration of a piece written by the French artist Jacque Prevert by visiting the NOWSROOM at this site and clicking on POESIE D'HAITI -JAMES NOEL AND MICHELE MARCELIN, and scrolling down to the last video, where she recites a poem by a French poet, Jacques Prevert. Even if you don't understand French, it is a performance that is clearly felt. A visit to her website http://michelemarcelin.blogspot.com/ will reveal not only the wealth of her artistic sensibilities, but also her acknowledgment of the works of others who have inspired her. Following this article are three paintings by Michele.
